The second in the series, this novel finds Adam, having moved to California with Bea and his mother, faced with the daunting task of trying to help Davi, who in the wake of WWII has been sent to a Japanese internment camp.

Heroes Don’t Run by Harry Mazer (2005)

This is the third novel in the series. Defying his mother and falsifying his age, Adam enlists in the marines and is sent to fight in Okinawa, Japan, where he confronts the horrifying realities of war and the complexities of his relationship with his late father.
